Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselor - Audubon, PA

About the Job

Project Transition, a multi-site provider of innovative residential psychiatric services, seeks Bachelors or Masters level Counselors to join our staff team.  Through sustained, positive relationships, we help adults with serious and persistent psychiatric problems.  While this ad promotes the Counselor position in our Audubon, Montgomery County (PA) program, similar openings may be available in our programs located in Philadelphia, Bucks or Berks Counties.

For 27 years, we have worked with adults who have various forms of psychiatric disability, including personality disorders and/or co-occurring substance abuse.  Our programs seamlessly blend into suburban apartment complexes; each program serves approximately 21 persons.  Virtually all services are provided on-site by a seasoned staff team that, in addition to Counselors, includes Psychologists, a Psychiatrist, a Wellness Specialist, an Addictions Counselor, and others.

In many ways, the Counselor position is the heart of Project Transition: the responsibilities are diverse and, at times, challenging.  The Counselor interacts closely with six clients, providing extensive coaching (distress tolerance, psychosocial and life skills, and interpersonal effectiveness), monitoring the ups and downs of progress, responding to emerging crises, and actively supporting the larger client group.  Many of our Counselors co-facilitate group therapy (with a Psychologist), as well as lead or co-lead psychoeducational workshops, recreational activities, and family meetings.  Other responsibilities include documentation, medication supervision, and participation in ongoing educational activities.

Our approach promotes quality of life and greater autonomy through symptom relief and self-management, healthy relationships, and a sense of belonging.  Project Transition integrates treatment, rehabilitation, and residential services.  In doing so, we promote psychiatric recovery, health and wellness, skill attainment and practice, peer support, and humor.  All of this occurs within a supportive therapeutic community comprised of  clients and staff who are collectively organized around the intentions of acceptance, hope, and healing.

This is a dynamic opportunity with a well-established, growing organization that is the recipient of the national Lilly Reintegration Award. The work environment of Project Transition is upbeat, creative, and stimulating; our treatment teams are cohesive and employee retention is high.  To learn more about our work and values, please visit www.projecttransition.com .

We are looking for applicants whose skills and experience reflect strong interpersonal and communication skills, positive energy, and an eagerness to learn and contribute.

Requirements include a Bachelors or Masters Degree and relevant experience (2-5 years), preferably in a residential or inpatient level of care. CPRP and DBT competencies a plus.   We offer an attractive salary and benefits package.  EOE.
