GENERAL FUNCTION:
Responsible for a high volume, high quality non-glare process application. Primary accountability is to hold the non-glare associates and Process Techs accountable for all aspects of the non-glare process. Must provide the shift team members with a work environment that allows them to contribute to the company goals and objectives, the personal and professional growth they desire, and the opportunity to be involved in our business. This accountability includes the following:
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads the activities of the associates in the production of quality non-glare eyewear in accordance with work instructions and company policy to ensure a quality product is delivered on time.
- Insures the appropriate level of accountability for facility goals and objectives.
- Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
- Leads in the identification of quality, process, workflow, and personnel problems and works to resolve these quickly according to company policy, practice, and guidelines.
- Utilizes problem solving techniques, team building strategies, process control, and continuous process improvement tools to meet or exceed the facility key operating statistics. Conducts, leads, or implements the appropriate process audits to minimize or eliminating process deviations and non-conforming product root causes.
- Facilitates meetings with the shift team members at regularly scheduled intervals. The meeting purpose is to communicate the company and facility goals and objectives, successes, process problems, corrective and preventative actions, etc.
- Manages workflow, scheduling, and team members’ assignment to ensure the facility and company goals are successfully met or exceeded.
- Plans and manages innovations to existing processes, implementation of new processes, installation of new equipment, etc.
- Assists fellow supervisors locally, throughout Manufacturing and Distribution, and the department manager in the execution of their duties and in meeting company and facility goals and objectives.
- The audits will identify the need for the appropriate containment, corrective, and preventive actions.
- Interviews, hires, plans and executes appropriate training for new and existing team members. Instrumental in encouraging team members to elevate their level of technical expertise. Conducts any associate training as required.
- Interacts with associates to establish rapport with team members, to take an interest in the individual and their work and to obtain knowledge of workplace issues.
- Supervises team members’ performance and discipline issues in a timely manner. Communicates expectations and behavior changes required in these cases. Follows up with each team member on his or her progress against these expectations.
- Conforms to cost center results and budgetary constraints. Analyzes variances and implements action plans to meet or exceed cost per Rx results.
- Participates in the team member’s comprehensive development in areas such as leadership, conflict resolution, communication, process control, problem solving, etc.
- Documents performance reviews (30/60/90 day etc.) with team members to communicate progress against individual goals and facility objectives.
- Communicates business needs, schedule changes, process problems, success stories, etc. Able to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.
- Takes appropriate actions utilizing maintenance management tools and prescribed preventative maintenance to attain utilization objective. Works with established reporting systems and through Process Technicians to ensure optimum equipment up-time.
- Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.

Job Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
§ Bachelor degree and/or equivalent work experience.
§ Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of five years experience in a manufacturing setting or extensive, hands-on experience in a technical area with 3-5 years supervisory experience
§ ISO 9000 and optical training helpful
§ Cellular manufacturing and LEAN manufacturing experience preferred
§ Developed personal computer skills and statistical skills required
§ Ability to work with peer and upper management

Physical Requirements:
Able to rotate from sitting and standing for long periods of time. Bend or twist as needed. Use of repetitive motion of hands and wrists as necessary. Lift up to 75 pounds.
